IBPAP reiterates legality of PEZA’s LOA

Industry body IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) stands by the legality of the Letter of Authority (LOAs) issued by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).
IBPAP President and CEO Jack Madrid said that the LOA is “a legal and fair measure that IT-BPM RBEs (registered business enterprises) are grateful for.”
PEZA has been issuing LOAs to its member companies who want to continue their hybrid working model until September 2022.
Madrid added that this move provides “necessary relief to address the cost and competitiveness pressures” that the industry had experienced since the pandemic started.
Moreover, the IBPAP chief stated that the LOA gives IT-BOM firms the “felixibility and runway time” to transition back to their physical workplaces.
IBPAP stated they are counting on other government agencies to uphold the validity of the LOAs so that the industry could achieve their revenue targets.
IBPAP issued the statement after the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), through the orders of the Department of Finance (DOF), created a task force to monitor the compliance of outsourcing companies with the government’s return-to-office mandate.
