IBPAP, SEIPI sign Philippine export-boosting deal

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) and the Semiconductor and Electronics Industry of the Philippines Inc. (SEIPI) signed a landmark agreement to align priorities and boost exports and investments.
The partnership “marks a pivotal milestone uniting leading exporters to bolster exports and economic growth,” said SEIPI president Dan Lachica.
He highlighted the potential to harness “collective strengths,” ushering in an era of innovation, efficiency, and global competitiveness for Philippine exports.
The memorandum of agreement covers five cooperation areas to accelerate growth in both sectors:
- Ease of doing business by streamlining regulations
- Collaboration on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives
- Promoting advanced IT-BPM services and semiconductor manufacturing
- Attracting investors and enhancing job opportunities
- Leveraging emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI).
Combined, the IT-BPM and electronics sectors account for over 20% of Philippine GDP and are major drivers of economic progress and job creation.
“This reaffirms IBPAP’s commitment to drive the sustained growth of the IT-BPM [IT-business process management] sector, generate more employment opportunities for Filipinos, and enable our economy’s upward trajectory,” said IBPAP President and CEO Jack Madrid.
The collaboration aligns with the Philippine IT-BPM Industry Roadmap 2028 and engages government, academia, and industry stakeholders.
