ICT-BPM summit to tackle WFH issue

The continuing issue regarding the work-from-home (WFH) scheme will be the main topic of the Information and Communications Technology – Business Process Management (ICT)-BPM Summit in June 2022.
Cebu Business Month (CBM) 2022 Vice-Chairperson Joslyn Canon said that the government’s mandatory return-to-work order last April 1 posed challenges to the IT-BPM sector.
She added that even though the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) could extend WFH till September, they are still hoping the next administration will pass laws and regulations that would make the hybrid work model permanent.
CBM 2022 ICT-BPM chairman Ryan Tan Yu added that aside from WFH concerns, they will also discuss the attrition rate issues faced by the companies in the sector.
Before the April deadline, the Cebu IT-BPM Organization (CIB.O) appealed to the government to allow Cebu-based IT-BPM firms to continue their WFH scheme as some support infrastructures have not been fully restored since the Typhoon Odette.
