LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — Idox, a specialist information management software and solutions supplier, has acquired Emapsite, a United Kingdom (UK)-based geographic information systems (GIS) data provider, for a total cash consideration of up to £15.75 million (US$19.89 million).
The acquisition will enhance Idox’s data capabilities across the Group and add significant scale to its existing geospatial offering.
Based in Farnborough, Emapsite employs 33 people and provides geospatial data to the UK market for customers associated with land and property across various industrial sectors, including energy, infrastructure, environmental, telecommunications, and construction. The company generated £11 million (US$13.89 million) in revenues and a pre-tax profit of £0.5 million (US$0.63 million) in its most recent financial year.
Idox operates primarily in the UK and serves the public and asset-intensive sectors. The company reported a revenue of £68.76 million (US$86.84 million) and a net income of £5.87 million (US$7.41 million), with a workforce of 595 employees.
With the acquisition of Emapsite, Idox’s geospatial business will expand to around 20% of total revenues.
Idox CEO David Meaden stated that the acquisition strengthens the company’s existing GIS, mapping, and data capabilities.
“We believe that the combination of Emapsite with our existing Geospatial businesses is very complementary and will allow us to deliver new products and capabilities to the customers of both organisations,” Meaden commented.
