India-based PCMC to outsource med staff

The committee of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) recently approved the plan to outsource 1,000 medical and paramedical staff for nine civic hospitals in India to private companies.
The agency will grant the contracts to three outsourcing agencies that will each maintain at least 300 employees to the designated hospitals.
PCMC additional commissioner Vikas Dhakane said that this move will save the government the trouble of hiring contractual health workers.
The outsourced workforce will include several medical officers, pharmacists, and staff nurses, among others.
PCMC will shell out Rs 11 crore (approximately US$1.4 million) for the first three months of the contract, which is expected to extend for two years.
