Indian job market recovers, IT roles register double-digit growth

After two years in pandemic the Indian job market is showing signs of recovery registering 6 per cent growth, exceeding pre-Covid levels.
Career and recruitment platform Monster Jobs’ employment index shows that recruitment activities across India’s major cities have been steadily picking up. Mumbai’s hiring rate is up by 21 per cent, Chennai and Hyderabad both saw a 16 per cent increase in recruitment while Kolkata and Delhi-NCR registered a growth of 13% each.
Bengaluru, an emerging hotspot for fintech startups logged 15 per cent increase in hiring.
Significantly, IT-hardware and software along with human resource, finance and accounts job roles marked double-digit growth with the emergence of metaverse applications.
The positive performance of the Indian job market is buoyed by industries including banking and financial services which saw a 37 per cent growth, followed by telco which is up by 17 per cent, production and manufacturing grew by 16 percent and travel and hospitality by 11 per cent.
The survey also showed that organizations have been hiring for top management roles (up by 34%), mid-senior level (up by 22%), intermediate level (up by 20%). Entry level roles saw an uptick of 8 per cent.
