India’s flexible staffing sector jumps to 21.5% in Q3

The flexible staffing industry in India grew by 21.5% during last year’s third quarter despite concerns raised by the COVID-19 Omicron variant.
According to a report by industry body Indian Staffing Federation (ISF), the top hiring sectors in the third quarter included IT and ITeS (IT-enabled services), e-commerce, retail, logistics, and hospitals.
Flexible staffing, or flexi-staffing, refers to the recruitment of an employee in a certain period, or up until the project is finished.
This growth indicates that there is a consistent demand in the sector despite the Omicron wave in the country.
Over the years, the Indian flexi staffing sector has been the largest employment mobilizer in the country.
ISF President Lohit Bhatia reported that currently, their member companies represent 1.19 million of the flexi staffing workforce in India.
Moreover, ISF members provided employment to 40,000 fresh jobseekers quarter on quarter, reaching a total count 211,000 over the year.
The apex body of staffing firms in India stated that “the social security and employment protection from staffing companies provide impetus to formal employment growth, impacting greater protection for companies as well as workers across industries.”
