India’s fresher hiring to improve in 2H

The fresher hiring sentiment across India is forecasted to improve in the second half of 2021 with 21-31% of companies planning to recruit new graduates, according to a report by human resource firm TeamLease.
The study, which had 661 companies as participants, showed that the overall fresher hiring intent across various industries increased to 17% for the 2021 2H from 15% in the first half of the year.
TeamLease Edtech CEO Shantanu Rooj said that there is a “rebound” in the intent to hire fresh graduates because several organizations lost a large part of their workforce due to the lockdowns.
Tech roles that are currently in demand include digital literacy expert, cloud computing, cybersecurity analyst, and mobile marketeer. Meanwhile, the majority of the non-tech sector is in search of business analysts, investment bankers, content writers, and retail sales attendants.
Rooj added that some new-age skills such as data science, digital marketing, and artificial intelligence are easier to find among fresh college graduates than industry professionals.
