Infosys acquires Versent, forms joint venture with Telstra in Australia

BENGALURU, INDIA and MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA — Infosys, a digital services and consulting provider, has announced a joint venture with Telstra, an Australian telecommunications and technology company. The move aims to accelerate AI-powered cloud and digital transformation for Australian businesses.

Under the agreement, Infosys will acquire a 75% stake in Versent Group, an Australian digital transformation solutions provider and Telstra subsidiary.

Telstra will retain a 25% minority interest, signaling its belief in the combined ability to “unlock value together,” said Telstra CEO Vicki Brady

“Their global scale, deep industry knowledge, and culture of innovation and service excellence will be instrumental in accelerating Versent Group’s growth and impact across the region.”

The transaction gives Infosys operational control of Versent’s 650-strong team of engineers, strategists, and advisors and is expected to close in the second half of FY 2026 pending regulatory approval.

Versent, with expertise in cloud-native solutions and industry-focused digital transformation, primarily serves blue-chip clients in government, finance, energy, and utilities across Australia.

AI and cloud capabilities for regional innovation

Infosys and Telstra aim to combine their strengths. Telstra’s robust connectivity, Versent’s local engineering talent, and Infosys’ global reach are expected to deliver advanced AI, cloud, and cybersecurity solutions.

The joint venture will leverage Infosys’ Topaz AI solutions, Cobalt cloud offerings, and The Missing Link’s cybersecurity expertise to enhance the digital transformation efforts of enterprises and government organizations in Australia and New Zealand.

Infosys CEO Salil Parekh stated, “We are excited to bring Infosys Topaz to enable transformative AI-first capabilities to complement Versent Group’s cloud-first digital foundation.”

“Expanding our trusted collaboration with Telstra… unveils a new opportunity to further accelerate the innovation agenda for enterprises across the region.”

Infosys and Telstra: Expanding regional technology leadership

This joint venture is the latest step in Infosys and Telstra’s growing partnership, which has seen multiple collaborations since 2024 targeting software engineering, technology leadership, and customer experience improvements in Australia.

Infosys, headquartered in Bengaluru, operates in 59 countries and employs over 320,000 people worldwide. In the fiscal year ending March 2024, Infosys reported revenues of $18.6 billion. The company ranked #11 in the OA500 2025, an objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies.

Telstra, on the other hand, delivers connectivity services across mobile, fixed, and digital networks, supporting people, businesses, and governments locally and globally.

Versent Group’s integration under the new joint venture is set to boost Australia’s digital economy and reinforce the region’s capacity for secure, resilient, and innovative digital services.
