BENGALURU, INDIA and TOKYO, JAPAN — HIPUS, an Infosys-led joint venture (JV) transforming procurement processes for Japanese enterprises, is gaining momentum with new investment from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI).

Through this new agreement, MHI acquired a 2% stake in HIPUS from Infosys. The investment is expected to open new opportunities for both companies as they work to digitally upgrade procurement operations not just in Japan, but globally.

The move will help HIPUS accelerate its support for enterprise customers seeking to modernize business processes through advanced digital platforms.

Infosys, a global leader in next-generation digital services and consulting, holds a majority stake in HIPUS, which was established in 2019. The JV specializes in providing end-to-end procurement services, sourcing expertise, and next-generation analytics solutions to Japanese corporations.

Deepening collaboration in Japan and beyond

MHI has been a long-standing client of HIPUS, and the investment marks a natural expansion of their relationship.

“Japan continues to be a strategic market for Infosys and HIPUS and we have consistently expanded our footprint in the region,” said Anantha Radhakrishnan, CEO and MD of Infosys BPM and Chairperson of the HIPUS Board.

“This collaboration with MHI reinforces Infosys’ commitment towards building trusted collaboration with customers in Japan and accelerating their digital business process transformation journey.”

Isao Miyake, Head of Value Chain Headquarters at MHI, added, “We expect HIPUS advanced analytics and support to significantly improve procurement operations, enable well informed decision making, and generate greater value across the organization.”

Kiyoshi Asami, CEO and Representative Director of HIPUS, noted that HIPUS is already delivering services to MHI beyond Japan, leveraging Infosys’ global reach and procurement expertise.

The transaction is expected to close during the first quarter of fiscal year 2026, ending June 30, 2025, subject to customary closing conditions.
