Infosys adopts digital system to prevent hiring fraud

BENGALURU, INDIA — Infosys, India’s second-largest software services company, has implemented a major change in its recruitment process by discontinuing the distribution of job offer letters via email.
This strategic shift requires new recruits to access their job application details through the company’s internal system, aiming to prevent fraudulent recruitment practices and enhance the hiring experience.
Combating recruitment fraud with enhanced security measures
The decision to eliminate email-based offer letters addresses growing concerns about fraudulent recruitment activities. By centralizing access to offer letters within its internal system, Infosys seeks to protect candidates from scams and ensure the authenticity of job offers. This measure also discourages candidates from using offer letters as leverage in negotiations with rival employers.
Addressing onboarding delays and fraud
This initiative emerges amid broader challenges in the Indian software services sector, including delayed onboarding processes. Infosys’ move is part of its efforts to streamline hiring practices and align with sustainability goals by reducing paper usage.
The company reported receiving over 2.4 million employment applications in fiscal 2024, interviewing nearly 194,000 applicants, and extending offers to approximately 27,000 candidates.
Commitment to sustainability and secure hiring practices
Infosys’ new recruitment strategy reflects its commitment to both sustainability and security. The company emphasizes creating an inclusive workplace that fosters diverse talent while ensuring environmental sustainability.
“Our new design focuses on health and wellbeing, productivity, social connect, and inclusiveness,” Infosys stated in its ESG report for FY24.
This shift aligns with Infosys’ resumption of aggressive campus recruitment drives across India, targeting between 15,000 and 20,000 freshers through both campus and off-campus initiatives.
Infosys also introduced the Power Programme to attract top-tier graduates. This initiative offers lucrative salary packages of up to ₹9 lakh (US$10,000) per annum for candidates with exceptional skills in areas like coding and software development.
A forward-thinking approach to IT recruitment
By implementing this new system for accessing job offer details, Infosys aims to safeguard candidates against fraud while reinforcing its dedication to sustainable business practices.
This change not only addresses immediate security concerns but also positions Infosys as a forward-thinking leader in the IT industry’s evolving landscape.
As the company continues to adapt its recruitment strategies, it remains committed to attracting top talent while ensuring a secure and efficient hiring process.
