ISG acquires software industry analyst firm Ventana Research

CONNECTICUT, UNITED STATES — Information Services Group (ISG), a prominent technology research and advisory firm, has announced the acquisition of Ventana Research, significantly enhancing its analysis capabilities within the lucrative $800 billion software sector.
This strategic move augments the services of ISG Research, a key business segment for ISG, known for its recurring revenue streams and extensive market influence.
Founded in 2002 in Oregon, Ventana Research brings a deep understanding of the software industry to ISG, tracking over 2,000 vendors and offering in-depth analysis on more than 250.
Their expertise is expected to provide valuable insights to ISG’s clients seeking to optimize operations and drive growth through software solutions.
“We are famously known for our industry-leading coverage of the managed services sector, and now we are expanding and deepening our coverage of the all-important software industry,” said Michael Connors, chairman and CEO of ISG.
Mark Smith, Ventana Research’s founder and CEO, will join ISG as a partner in Software Research.
“As we move past the initial integration period, there will be many opportunities to create synergy as we naturally and smoothly integrate Ventana offerings fully into ISG Research,” said Paul Gottsegen, president of ISG Research and Client Experience.
Ventana Research will continue its operations within ISG, maintaining its research services while benefiting from ISG’s resources and global reach.
The firm becomes a key part of ISG Research’s five service lines, including ISG Provider Lens, ISG Provider Services, ISG ProBenchmark, and ISG Events.
Founded in 2006, ISG has over 1,600 professionals across 20 countries. The company offers digital transformation services, from automation and cloud analytics to sourcing advisory and market intelligence.
ISG has a market cap of $206 million and generated $286 million in 2022 revenue.
