IT/BPM career fair held in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO, SRI LANKA — The Sri Lanka Association of Software and Service Companies (SLASSCOM) recently organized the Eastern IT/BPM Career Fair 2023, connecting university students with industry leaders from the country’s growing IT sector.
Designed for knowledge sharing and networking, the event underlined SLASSCOM’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of IT professionals.
The event’s first half showcased a series of informative sessions that taught students about crafting impactful CVs, acing interviews, and the importance of gender diversity in IT.
The afternoon saw firms such as SimCentric and HCL Tech meeting with eager students. Numerous attendees secured job offers and internships, aligning their academic pursuits with the industry’s demands.
SLASSCOM Chairman Ashique Ali stated that the long-term vision represented by this event focuses on establishing a sustainable talent pipeline for the IT/BPM sector in Sri Lanka.
“By ensuring that individuals from diverse backgrounds and regions have access to technology and digital education, we foster an environment that promotes innovation, entrepreneurship, and competitiveness,” he added.
Expressing similar sentiments, SLASSCOM Director Haridhu Abeygoonaratne highlighted their ambition to position Sri Lanka as a premier IT/BPM destination. Jehan Perera, a General Council member, further stressed their dedication to enhancing skills and fostering partnerships between the industry and academia.
