98% of IT leaders approve cloud transformation — Aptum study

TORONTO, CANADA — An overwhelming 98% of IT leaders are pleased with their organization’s cloud transformation progress, according to the Cloud Impact Study 2023 by global managed services provider Aptum.
The report ‘Clear Skies Ahead: Avoiding Chaos in the Cloud’ collected insights from 400 senior IT professionals from firms employing over 250 staff.
According to the participants, integration (42%), providing cost predictability (36%), skill shortages (33%), and technological changes (33%) were among the hurdles to the rapid implementation of cloud services.
The report highlighted an ongoing investment in hybrid and multi-cloud environments, with 59% of participants using a mix of public and private cloud services. But the complexity of hybrid cloud environments posed its own challenges, such as a lack of visibility into cloud cost and performance was a common theme.
A startling 73% of respondents reported higher than anticipated cloud costs, while 34% identified enhancing cloud analytics and reporting as a key priority for the coming year.
Despite economic uncertainties, Aptum’s CEO, Susan Bowen, emphasized the importance of continued cloud investment.
“Cloud technology continues to enable agility, scalability, cost savings, and remote work – all essential components for business continuity and growth in turbulent times. But, if not managed effectively with a holistic approach, the benefits of cloud can be missed,” said Bowen.
