Italy has a new working visa for ‘digital nomads’

Italy is implementing a new law regarding a remote working visa for non-EU (European Union) citizens who are working remotely within the country’s territory.
According to local financial paper Il Sole 24 Ore, the government has given a wide definition for qualified applicants “from university professors to circus employees, seafarers and professional nurses”.
The government will also not limit the number of permits issued annually but will look into entailing a minimum income requirement for visa applicants.
Five Star Movement MP Luca Carabetta – an advocate of the digital nomad visa – has indicated that it will last one year in the first instance, and can be extended to close family members.
Carabetta added that remote workers have to have suitable accommodation, adequate income, health insurance, and a clean criminal record to be approved for their remote working visa.
