CAIRO, EGYPT — The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has wrapped up its 13th Virtual Employment Fair, marking a significant milestone in Egypt’s IT and business process outsourcing sector.

The event, which took place last March 9, was designed to bridge the gap between Egypt’s burgeoning talent pool and the increasing demand for skilled professionals in the IT offshoring industry.

During his opening speech, ITIDA CEO Ahmed ELZaher emphasized the dynamic nature and job creation potential of Egypt’s IT and offshoring sector.

“The ICT sector has maintained an average growth rate of 17% over the past five years, making it the highest-growing sector in Egypt during this period,” ELZaher stated, highlighting the sector’s impressive 54% growth rate in 2023.

The fair successfully connected over 6,200 young professionals with more than 2,500 job opportunities in IT offshoring and BPO services.

A total of 78 leading local and multinational companies participated, including industry giants such as Orange, Atos, Luxoft, Deloitte, Capgemini, VOIS, Huawei, DXC Technology, Raya, Xceed, and Amazon Egypt.

The event also featured workshops and educational sessions on remote employment, underscoring the fair’s role in reflecting the industry’s expansion and the diversity of job opportunities available.

ELZaher also pointed out the inclusivity of the IT sector, noting that job opportunities are not limited to graduates of Engineering and Computer Science faculties but are open to graduates from various disciplines. This approach aims to leverage the full spectrum of local talent in supporting the sector’s growth.

With Egypt’s digital exports reaching $6.2 billion in 2023, ITIDA’s efforts are instrumental in positioning Egypt as a key player in the global IT services market.

Following the “Digital Egypt Strategy for the Offshoring Industry 2022-2026,” ITIDA also signed 74 agreements with local and multinational firms to boost offshoring capacities and establish new global delivery centers in Egypt, further solidifying the country’s standing in the global offshoring landscape.
