Jamaica eyes 15K addt’l outsourcing talent by 2025

KINGSTON, JAMAICA — The Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry in Jamaica aims to add 15,000 more workers to its labor pool by 2025 despite the current shortage of qualified talent.
According to former Global Services Association of Jamaica (GSAJ) President Gloria Henry, the industry must prioritize training graduating students to join the workforce.
“The focus must be on training, training, and more training to make sure that the people coming out of school are adaptable, to even more than they can absorb the training,” Henry stated.
“We have a growth target of 75,000 workers by 2025, and we are still working towards that target. We are just 15,000 away or 5,000 annually to realize that growth,” she added.
Henry is also pushing Jamaica to capitalize on emerging areas in outsourcing, such as high-value jobs like procurement and supply chain, logistics outsourcing, facilities and administration, and AI prompt engineering.
Meanwhile, GSAJ President Anana Biradar is confident that Jamaica can experience even greater growth from new technologies.
Jamaica currently has 60,000 workers employed in nearly 100 outsourcing firms across the country. The industry is also projected to be over one trillion dollars by 2027.
