Jamaican BPO contracts expected to carry out $70mn

The Global Services Association of Jamaica (GSAJ) said that BPO firms on the island were set to finalize contracts worth more than US$70 million and create 7,000 jobs in the coming months.
Based on a survey conducted last March, GSAJ President Gloria Henry said, “A majority of BPO providers are seeing new projects coming their way or have new projects in the pipeline”. Henry added that these new projects could boost the number of BPO jobs in the country from the current 43,000 to 50,000.
In addition, Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) President Dian Edwards cited an anonymous study, which revealed that around 50,000 BPO jobs would be shifted to the US nearshore post-pandemic.
