Japanese telecom NTT to adopt remote work permanently
Japanese telecommunications company Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) announced that they are considering adopting remote work permanently for its 320,000 employees.
In a statement released last Tuesday, NTT said that they plan to transfer their headquarters and management departments from the capital to regional cities by the 2022 fiscal year (FY).
The telecom firm also intends to “quadruple” its satellite offices from 60 to 260 by March 2023 to make it easier for remote employees.
A “job-based” personnel system will be expanded to all management positions starting this October.
NTT President Jun Sawada said that he wants to lead the company by “taking the initiative to make changes.”
