Kenya BPO firms form OAK alliance to drive jobs, foreign investments

NAIROBI, KENYA — Four of Kenya’s leading business process outsourcing (BPO) companies have joined forces to create a new private-sector alliance aimed at accelerating the country’s position as a global hub for business services.

According to a report from The Kenyan Wall Street, the new coalition is called the Outsourcing Alliance of Kenya (OAK), which seeks to drive job creation, attract international investment, and influence government policies supporting the sector.

OAK alliance, policy reforms to create 100,000 Kenya BPO jobs

OAK’s founding members include CCI Kenya, CloudFactory Kenya, Teleperformance Kenya, and Sama Kenya, with Genesis Analytics serving as the executive secretariat.

The alliance plans to grow to more than 20 paid members by the second quarter of 2026, working together to co-create a roadmap that could generate 100,000 new jobs in the outsourcing sector.

Among the proposals put forward by the alliance are extending Special Economic Zone (SEZ) benefits to any BPO company creating over 300 jobs, regardless of its physical location, and introducing a standardized transfer pricing rate to reduce tax uncertainty.

“The alliance aims to stimulate job creation and global investment,” said Jonathan Beardsley, Head of Digital Livelihoods at Genesis Analytics.

“We are aligning global demand with Kenya’s digital skills programmes to create careers for youth,” Beardsley added.

OAK to elevate Kenya’s global BPO competitiveness

In addition to policy advocacy, OAK plans to organize an East Africa GBS Summit to attract international operators and launch an AI Skills Observatory to monitor and develop talent in emerging digital technologies.

The alliance plans to actively participate in developing Kenya’s National BPO Policy while working to improve the industry’s regulatory framework and competitive abilities.

Kenya’s BPO sector has maintained its reputation in the past as a primary force that drives economic development. OAK’s unified strategy will establish Kenya as a key African hub that attracts outsourcing investments.

The formation of OAK also reflects a growing trend across Africa, where countries are increasingly leveraging the BPO sector to create high-value jobs and attract foreign investment.

The alliance unites leading operators to create one unified industry voice, which enables policymakers to comprehend sector requirements while boosting the speed of technological adoption for AI and cloud services.

This approach could not only strengthen Kenya’s competitive edge but also enhance the country’s ability to meet the evolving demands of global clients.

The alliance plans to fulfill increasing worldwide requirements through international partnerships and local workforce development initiatives, which will establish valuable employment opportunities for young people in Kenya.

Through this new coalition, Kenya establishes itself as a global outsourcing market leader while using public and private sector partnerships to develop new business possibilities.

If successful, OAK could become a model for other African countries seeking to strengthen their business services industries and foster sustainable job growth.
