Legislator offers to mediate on-site work arrangements for BPOs
Albay Representative Jose Maria Clemente Salceda offered his assistance in creating a compromise between the government and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firms over the recent on-site work return order.
Salceda, who also chairs the House Ways and Means Committee, said that arrangements had to be made for people who are moving back to the city and those who are immunocompromised.
The Representative stated that he wants to see “unified guidelines from the FIRB (Fiscal Incentives Review Board), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) about what arrangements can be made.”
He added that he wants to see the possible “tax leakage” that the FIRB insisted on.
Salceda also expressed his support for a four-day work week due to the rising oil prices in the country.
The FIRB, together with the government’s support, recently ordered BPO firms to return to their offices on April 1 or risk losing their tax incentives.
