LGUs to decide restrictions for unvaxxed population

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said that it is up to the Local Government Units (LGUs) to decide whether or not to ease restrictions on the unvaccinated individuals in their communities.
DILG spokesperson Jonathan Malaya said that the stay-at-home orders and the implementation of the ”no vaccine, no ride” or ”no entry” policy will be at the discretion of local officials as Metro Manila was downgraded into a relaxed alert level.
Malaya added that an intensified vaccination should be implemented to control the spread of the virus.
In an interview on OneNews’ Agenda, he stated that “the movement of people is something we cannot stop anymore. Meaning, we have to get out of the lockdown mentality.”
Citing the situation in European countries where people ”are starting to live with the virus,” Malaya noted that this is something that we should also do “guided by our data and experience.”
Aside from Metro Manila, Cavite, Bulacan, Rizal, Batanes, Biliran and Southern Leyte were downgraded to Alert Level 2 from February 1 to 15.
