MBaer to outsource IT, back-office services to Swisscom

ZURICH, SWITZERLAND — In a strategic move towards digital transformation, Swiss merchant bank MBaer Bank will outsource its IT and back-office operations to telecommunications provider Swisscom.
This new partnership will cover the bank’s payment transactions and securities handling.
MBaer plans to transition to Swisscom’s managed banking platform around March next year. This platform, which operates on the Finnova core banking system, will replace the IT platform the bank has utilized since its inception five years ago.
Swisscom will oversee MBaer’s IT infrastructure and undertake maintenance, improvement, and transaction processing as part of this extensive shift.
MBaer CEO Mike Baer said that Swisscom’s expertise is the key factor behind the decision to outsource.
“Swisscom understands our full range of services, from wealth management to transaction banking, giving us valuable time to focus on the needs of our customers, their families, and their businesses,” he added.
Meanwhile, Swisscom Head of Banking Robert Gebel expressed his delight in supporting MBaer’s future success as a key partner and supplier.
Swisscom currently extends its ICT services to around 100 banks in Switzerland, covering varied aspects of the banking value chain.
