MEDITECH platform integrates with DAX Copilot to boost clinical processes

MASSACHUSETTS, UNITED STATES — Healthcare company MEDITECH will integrate Expanse, its electronic health record (EHR) platform, into the Nuance Dragon Ambient eXperience Copilot (DAX Copilot) to automate clinical processes.
MEDITECH is a provider of EHR systems, empowering healthcare organizations worldwide with its intelligent Expanse platform. Expanse offers personalized workflows, intuitive functionality, and innovative AI applications to drive better outcomes and meet the demands of an overburdened healthcare workforce.
Nuance Communications, a Microsoft company, is a pioneer in conversational, ambient, and generative AI solutions. Over 200 healthcare organizations are already using its DAX Copilot to help address clinician burnout and enhance patient care through automated documentation powered by advanced AI capabilities.
The integration of the two platforms will aid nurses in the documentation process. The platform can draft clinical notes during in-person or telehealth consultations. Physicians will be able to review these notes before being submitted to the EHR.
By streamlining this procedure, nurses can devote their time to delivering personalized care to patients. This also reduces stress and burnout, which are among the reasons why healthcare workers leave the profession, leading to nationwide shortages.
“With DAX Copilot, we will extend our support for conversational and ambient AI to further reduce the documentation burden on today’s busy clinicians,” said MEDITECH Associate Vice President Jeff Kimball.
“It also enhances MEDITECH customer investments in Dragon Medical solutions with state-of-the art generative AI capabilities for clinical documentation automation backed by the extensive resources of Nuance and Microsoft,” added Robert Dahdah, CVP, Global Health and Life Sciences, Microsoft.
