Metro Manila eased to Alert Level 2 starting Feb. 1

Restrictions will be eased in Metro Manila as the capital region will be placed under Alert Level 2 starting February 1, according to acting Presidential Spokesperson Karlo Nograles.
In an announcement, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) also deescalated the provinces of Batanes, Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, Biliran, Southern Leyte, and Basilan to Alert Level 2.
Metro Manila was under the stricter Alert Level 3 for a month as COVID-19 cases spiked in late December due to the spread of the highly transmissible Omicron variant.
The “no vaccination, no ride” policy prohibiting unvaccinated individuals from using public transportation will also be suspended as the capital city shifts to a more relaxed protocol.
At the same time, several cities and provinces in the country will be put under Alert Level 3 due to the rising COVID-19 infections in these places.
Intrazonal and interzonal travels will be allowed under Alert Levels 2 and 3, but they will stay subjected to reasonable restrictions determined by the local government units of their destinations.
The restriction takes effect until February 15, unless extended or lifted by the government.
