Microsoft and Oracle expand Cloud partnership

TEXAS AND WASHINGTON, UNITED STATES — Tech giants Microsoft and Oracle have announced a significant expansion of their partnership with the launch of Oracle Database@Azure.
This new service allows customers to access Oracle database services hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) within Microsoft Azure data centers.
The collaboration combines the power of Oracle Database on OCI with the flexibility and security of Microsoft Azure, including Azure’s advanced AI services like Azure OpenAI.
“We have a real opportunity to help organizations bring their mission-critical applications to the cloud so they can transform every part of their business with this next generation of AI,” said Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella.
Oracle Chairman and CTO Larry Ellison also emphasized the significance of their collaboration, adding, “By collocating Oracle Exadata hardware in Azure datacenters, customers will experience the best possible database and network performance.”
Additionally, the partnership streamlines the purchasing process, allowing customers to acquire Oracle Database@Azure through Azure Marketplace while utilizing existing Azure agreements and Oracle Database license benefits.
Oracle will oversee OCI services within Microsoft’s data centers, starting with North America and Europe, marking a new era in cloud collaboration.
