Mid-tier IT firms outpace rivals in AI with senior talent

HYDERABAD, INDIA — Mid-tier IT firms are proving that size isn’t everything in the artificial intelligence (AI) era, leveraging experienced talent and agile workflows to compete with larger peers for major deals.
According to a report from Bizz Buzz, industry experts note that these firms are drawing clients by deploying highly skilled professionals rather than relying on the typical pyramid mix seen in big IT companies.
Seasoned engineers give mid-tier IT firms an AI edge
Mid-tier IT companies are attracting clients with teams that have deeper experience, in contrast to larger firms where the majority of employees have just 2–3 years of experience.
“From client perspective, mid-tier companies mean better delivery in many projects. Because mid-tier IT companies can’t afford many people on H1B visas,” said Pareekh Jain, IT outsourcing advisor and Founder of Pareekh Consulting, in an interview with Bizz Buzz.
“So, they are hiring more experienced people. That is the reason that many mid-tier IT firms are able to maintain the growth momentum despite AI-led disruption,” Jain added.
In addition to talent, mid-tier firms are actively investing in AI solutions and services required for today’s market.
“There is not much difference in pricing between mid-tier IT firms and large companies,” Jain emphasized, suggesting that these companies can compete not just on quality but also on cost.
Revenue growth and strategic moves signal resilience
Recent financial results underline the competitive edge of mid-tier IT companies. LTIMindtree recorded 4.9% growth in revenue in Q2 of 2025, while Coforge and Persistent Systems led with year-on-year growth of 26.6% and 17.6%, respectively. Mphasis posted a 10.34% increase.
These figures highlight mid-tier firms’ ability to deliver AI-powered solutions and platforms effectively while also pursuing mergers and acquisitions to expand capabilities.
Industry sources add that predictions of large firms riding the AI wave have not entirely come true, as many mid-tier IT firms carved out specialized niches, enabling them to secure more projects and maintain healthy hiring levels even amid AI-led disruption.
The mid-tier segment is the most dynamic force to emerge as the outsourcing industry continues to evolve. The combination of seasoned talent, AI investment, and strategic acquisitions is evidence that agility and specialization can rival sheer scale.
The mid-tier IT companies are proving themselves to be formidable partners in efficiency, innovation, and competitive pricing for clients while signaling a shift in how global IT outsourcing is reshaping itself for the AI era.
