Monstarlab acquires AI recruiting firm
TOKYO, JAPAN — Digital consulting firm Monstarlab has acquired ExecutiveSearch.AI (ESAI), a recruiting company powered by artificial intelligence (AI) that specializes in hiring for the tech industry in Japan. The strategic acquisition aims to enhance Monstarlab’s talent pool and expand its digital consulting services globally.
Founded in 2006, Tokyo-based Monstarlab has over 1,500 experts across 18 countries and territories. It provides tailored digital transformation services to major corporations and governments.
“By welcoming ESAI into our group, we aim to enhance both the quality acquisition support, we believe that the added value of our digital consulting business can sustainably grow,” said Hiroki Inagawa, a Monstarlab Group CEO.
ESAI, a specialist recruiting firm focused on the Japanese tech industry, has seen over 60% annual sales growth in recent years.

The deal involves Monstarlab gradually acquiring ESAI’s shares over five years starting in 2023, totaling ¥425 million ($3 million).
