MSMEs will be the key to job creation in PH

The growth of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) could help generate generate more jobs for Filipinos, according to Go Negosyo Fouhnder Joey Concepcion.
In an interview with Philstar Global, Concepcion said that this industry will help “hire more people which will, in the end, improve consumer spending and increase our country’s GDP.”
“This is the circle of success that is achieved when everyone in the ecosystem grows. No one gets left behind,” he stated.
To push MSME growth in the Philippines, the Go Negosyo founder and jobs group leader of the leads the jobs group of the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) said the sector was featured prominently in his discussions with Department of Labour and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Benny Laguesma.
MSMEs were also on the agenda of Private Sector Advisory Council’s (PSAC) five proposals to create more jobs in their presentation to President Marcos last August 17.
“We are pretty much aligned as far as our recommendations on jobs, skills development, the review of labour laws to create more harmony between labour and industry and not ‘too much government in this sector,” Concepcion concluded.
