Nextiva buys AI call center firm Thrio

ARIZONA, UNITED STATES — Customer experience solutions provider Nextiva has acquired Thrio, a contact center software company, to liberalize artificial intelligence (AI)-powered customer experience (CX).
The acquisition aligns with Nextiva’s mission of democratizing CX technologies powered by AI for small and large-scale companies. Nextiva’s platform breaks down siloed applications that contain critical information that some departments need but cannot access easily.
“Joining the Nextiva family will accelerate our shared mission on a global scale. Together, we are putting an end to the CX technology gap between small and large companies,” said Edwin Margulies, Chief Executive Officer of Thrio.
The acquisition will allow Nextiva clients to access Thrio’s service offerings. Thrio provides a suite of messaging services, including inbound and outbound voice, SMS text, chat, email and social interactions.
Thrio marks Nextiva’s second acquisition in two years. The Arizona-based firm bought the AI customer experience platform Simplify360 in 2023. Simplify360’s clients include Amazon, Honda, HP, Nestle, HDFC, Hyundai, Canon, and Xiaomi.
In 2021, Nextiva raised $200 million from investment firm Goldman and Sachs through a first external funding round, boosting its value to $2.7 billion. The company said it aims to use the investment to propel its relationships with customers by accelerating its AI initiatives and unlocking new growth opportunities.
