‘No-vax-no-work’ policy should be suspended – BPO union

A BPO labor union and the House Committee on Labor and Employment are urging the government to suspend the IATF resolutions 148B and 149 that require on-site workers to be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus.
They said that the resolutions have “confusing guidelines” when it comes to their implementation.
Mylene Cabalona, president of BPO workers group BIEN Pilipinas, said that the IATF should consider the impacts of the resolutions on workers who “need to earn a living.”
She noted that their group is “not against vaccination.” They are only calling for companies to shoulder the expenses for RT-PCR tests as everyone can be carriers, “vaccinated or not.”
The resolutions were initially issued last November 11 and were supported by President Rodrigo Duterte. It mandates on-site workers to be fully vaccinated or take regular RT-PCR tests “at their own expense.”
Cabalona warned that the protocol may be viewed as discriminatory and “could be utilized by companies… as a tool to try to terminate other agents who are tenured.”
