NTT Data expands Latin American presence through Aoop acquisition

BIELEFELD, GERMANY and SAO PAULO, BRAZIL — Japanese IT giant NTT Data has acquired Aoop, a Brazilian digital transformation specialist. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

This move represents NTT Data’s expanding reach within Latin America and enhances its portfolio in cloud, automation, and ServiceNow services.

Bolstering competitive strength in Brazil

Aoop will continue operating under its brand name, with CEO Luiz Cesar Baptistella staying at the helm. The acquisition will add 120 customers to NTT Data’s existing Brazilian client base, where the company has operated for over 25 years.

According to Norbert Rotter, CEO of NTT Data Business Solutions, the acquisition bolsters the company’s “competitive strength in Brazil by offering both SAP and ServiceNow solutions.”

“This move will not only secure us a leading position in the fast-growing ServiceNow ecosystem but will also integrates a company with a strong market presence and solid financials to NTT DATA. It will be a significant step in driving our strategic objectives, strengthening our partnership with ServiceNow and our commitment to establishing a Center of Excellence in the region,” Rotter added.

Future growth and Latin American integration

NTT Data’s extensive global network includes operations in over 30 countries, and the firm is backed by a workforce of 15,300 employees dedicated to advancing intelligent enterprise solutions. With a broad focus on ServiceNow and SAP platforms, NTT Data is also a trusted partner for 75% of the Fortune Global 100 companies.

“Aoop leads the ServiceNow market in Brazil. Our integration with NTT DATA Business Solutions will allow us to further expand our solution offerings to existing customers, access new opportunities for joint solutions with SAP customers and accelerate our international expansion,” said Luiz Cesar Baptistella, CEO and founder of Aoop.

As the acquisition awaits approval from Brazil’s Administrative Council for Economic Defense, both companies anticipate a strengthened position in the Latin American IT market.

Synergies of NTT Data and Aoop

Founded in 2017, Aoop has quickly established itself as a leader in digital transformation services. With over 300 professionals, the company has completed approximately 2,500 projects, helping businesses streamline their digital workflows and automate key functions. Aoop’s rapid growth is evident in its expanding Latin American footprint, with at least 20 major customers added in Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico.

The Brazilian firm aimed to achieve US$17 million in annual revenue in 2023, showcasing its strong market position. Despite the acquisition, Aoop will maintain its operational independence, with CEO Luiz Cesar Baptistella continuing to lead the company.

Meanwhile, NTT Data, with a revenue of over $30 billion, has been operating in Brazil for 25 years. This acquisition aligns with the company’s recent focus on automation, artificial intelligence, and cloud technology to expand its client base.

Ricardo Fachin, Managing Director of NTT DATA Business Solutions Brazil, highlighted the potential synergies: “It will enhance synergies with our other Latin American and U.S. operations, accelerating our regional growth”.

The acquisition of Aoop follows NTT Data’s recent purchase of Sapphire, a British ServiceNow specialist.
