Startup firm Nudgyt integrates personality, behavior into healthcare AI

SINGAPORE CITY, SINGAPORE — Startup Nudgyt is making waves in the tech industry by integrating personality and behavior into its AI systems.
The goal is to create a reliable tool for medical screening and health management.
“Nudgyt’s rooted in the science of personality and behavior. We’re building AI technology to understand and behave more like people,” said Nudgyt Founder Kathleen Yu during an interview on ANC Business Roadshow.
Practical applications in healthcare
Nudgyt has been collaborating with Kwong Wai Shiu in Singapore to develop an AI system that uses virtual and mixed reality. This system trains AI characters to behave like elderly patients, providing a valuable tool for medical practitioners.
“These kinds of tools are going to make the difference between how well a medical practitioner is able to interact with an elderly patient,” Yu explained.
This AI system aims to improve communication and interaction between healthcare providers and elderly patients, especially those who have communication difficulties.
Pivoting with technological advancements
The company has a rich history of over 12 years in personality and behavior modeling. However, they pivoted their focus with the advent of GPT-4, aiming to build AI models that understand people across various cultures and contexts.
“We pivoted to train AI to understand people from just personality models when ChatGPT came out,” Yu noted.
This shift has allowed Nudgyt to expand their tools and build AI learning partners for various applications, including medical screening and health management.
Future directions and collaborations
Nudgyt is also exploring the integration of virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) with its AI technology. The company’s collaboration with Singapore-based firm Aventura aims to create immersive experiences where users can interact more engagingly with AI characters.
“Imagine a scenario where you can talk to Jose Rizal, and Jose Rizal is being played by an AI,” Yu illustrated. This integration is expected to have a significant impact on education and training methods.
Nudgyt is also working with Umbra Digital Company, a Philippine-based firm, to enhance their AI systems.
“Philippine developers are really world-class when it comes to building IT systems,” Yu praised. This collaboration aims to scale Nudgyt’s databases and improve the functionality of their AI systems, with plans to release new solutions by the end of the year.
Nudgyt’s innovative approach to integrating personality and behavior into AI systems is set to revolutionize medical screening and health management, providing more effective and personalized care solutions.
