Nvidia partners with Indian IT outsourcing giants to spur AI adoption
MUMBAI, INDIA — American multinational corporation and technology company Nvidia Corporation is strengthening its presence in India through strategic partnerships with leading IT firms Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Tech Mahindra, and Wipro.
These collaborations aim to accelerate artificial intelligence (AI) adoption across various sectors by leveraging Nvidia’s advanced enterprise software platform.
Customized AI solutions for diverse industries
Nvidia’s partnerships with these IT giants focus on creating custom-built AI solutions tailored to meet diverse industry needs. Each company will utilize Nvidia’s technology to enhance their AI offerings:
- Infosys and TCS: These firms will help clients deploy AI solutions using Nvidia’s enterprise software, driving innovation and efficiency.
- Tech Mahindra: The company plans to use its Hindi-language AI model to develop Indus 2.0, a custom AI model designed for the Indian market.
- Wipro: Engaging in similar initiatives to integrate Nvidia’s AI capabilities into their services.
In addition to these collaborations, Nvidia is also partnering with Reliance Industries to supply AI processors for a new data center in the state of Gujarat. This partnership focuses on building robust AI infrastructure in India.
India’s potential as a global AI leader
During the Nvidia AI Summit 2024, CEO Jensen Huang highlighted India’s potential to become a global leader in AI technology. He pointed out the country’s robust digital infrastructure and its capacity to export AI innovations worldwide.
Huang suggested that India, long known as a software services powerhouse, should transform into an AI-exporting nation. He emphasized that the same talent that established India as the world’s IT back office could drive this transformation.
“You have the critical ingredients here in your country to be able to harvest the raw data [and] transform it into intelligence. You can code it into a model and manufacture your own digital intelligence and export that,” Huang told reporters.
He also urged India to act swiftly, given its capabilities, and expressed his eagerness to see the country produce “AI at scale.” Huang advised prioritizing AI development over chip manufacturing, which has recently seen some investment interest.
“Before following others into manufacturing, India should jump into this future AI factory,” he said. “There’s a new industry emerging—don’t wait 20 years to enter. Start now.”
Increase in India’s computing capacities
Huang also predicted a 20-fold increase in India’s computing capacities by 2024, with the country soon exporting impactful AI solutions. He reiterated Nvidia’s commitment to expanding its ecosystem in India.
“India is central to the world’s computer industry and the IT sector,” Huang stated. “Nvidia’s ecosystem in India is very rich; 2024 will see significant growth in computing capacities.”
These strategic alliances represent a crucial step in Nvidia’s efforts to expand its presence in India. By collaborating with leading IT firms, Nvidia aims to drive the next wave of AI advancements, positioning India as a key player in the global technology landscape.
