OhioHealth Van Wert Hospital launches $12Mn Epic EHR

OHIO, UNITED STATES — OhioHealth Van Wert Hospital has launched CareConnect, an Epic-powered electronic health record system worth $12 million.
CareConnect went live on March 24. Before the launch, patients were already using MyChart for results and messaging providers, but they were not able to use it to schedule appointments or make payments.
This new system will allow patients to schedule appointments, consult with a provider virtually, and pay their medical bills all in one place.
“This will improve patient outcomes by enabling quick access to comprehensive data for accurate diagnoses and timely interventions,” said Joy Bischoff, president of OhioHealth Van Wert Hospital.
“The change will also improve the patient experience by streamlining scheduling and offering patients access to their medical information, which will help guide healthier behaviors and choices.”
Meanwhile, physicians also benefit from CareConnect through better documentation and communication with their patients.
The MyChart app provides timelines and screening reminders that allow patients to create their own schedules rather than placing them through a phone call.
Van Wert Hospital is the latest of OhioHealth’s 15 hospitals to move to CareConnect, creating an integrated system.
MyChart is Accessible online at mychart.ohiohealth.com or through the OhioHealth app and offers the traditional option for patients to request medical records in person.
