Only 11% of local PH firms are digitally sustainable — TCS

Only 11% of local companies in the Philippines are digitally sustainable, said IT, consulting, and outsourcing provider Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and University of Auckland (UOA) Business School.
In the joint study, TCS and UOA stated that the top sustainability goal of these Filipino firms is focused on employee health, safety incidents, and the company’s efficiency gains and cost savings.
As a developing country, the internet and technology are a continuous challenge for both the Filipino workforce and employers. Based on the study, most Philippine companies feel that leadership by non-tech personnel is their “primary inhibitor” in adapting to digital sustainability.
Other challenges faced by the Philippines is the lack of in-house knowledge — specifically in manufacturing, construction, and transportation — and the lack of budget and a clear return on investment.
However, TCS and UOA agreed that Philippine companies have accepted, embraced, and adapted to digital sustainability. Further, the study suggests that businesses in the Asia Pacific can utilize digital sustainability to ensure knowledge and expertise on various digital concerns.
