Only 21% of companies are confident in their remote-work security, says study
Only one in five companies, or 21%, are fully confident in their infrastructure security to support long-term remote work, according to a study released by Sungard Availability Services (Sungard AS).
The research, which was conducted with the participation of 200 North American business leaders, shows that 89% of businesses believe that a hybrid work model is the most ideal after Labor Day. Around 83% of them are planning to implement this model after the holiday.
Sungard AS Global Chief Security Officer Shawn Burke said that companies have to adjust their
“technologies or security policies” to support full-time hybrid work.
Burke added that “Multi-factor authentication shouldn’t be optional and advanced cybersecurity training is now table stakes” to keep the infrastructure running effectively and safely.
The survey noted that some of the considered essential items for remote employees include security software for work devices (79%), an easy-to-use sharing system (76%), IT support for remote workers (71.5%), and high-speed internet connection (60%).
