Only 30% of IBPAP members applied for WFH extension, PEZA moves deadline

Only about 30% of companies under the Information Technology Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) filed a letter of request to continue implementing a 30% work-from-home arrangement until June 30, 2022.

This is after the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) released a memorandum circular that allows registered business enterprises (RBE) to apply for a 70:30 hybrid work arrangement despite the government’s back-to-office order.

Because of the underwhelming response from IBPAP members and  Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) organizations, PEZA Director General Charito Plaza said that they are extending the deadline for application from March 31 to April 8.

Plaza explained that “the 70% export and 30% domestic sales allowance and other incentives are provided in the PEZA law (and) the Omnibus Investment Code.”

“IT-BPM companies are export service oriented, hence can observe the 70:30 (rule) as they can outsource their services from the domestic market,” she added.

For their part, the IBPAP reiterated PEZA’s instructions and said that a letter of request is needed for every enterprise who wants to extend their remote working arrangement.
