Outsourcing event hosts 900 meetings in Jamaica

MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA — Over 900 business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) meetings were held during the Outsource2LAC event in Jamaica.
Most meetings discussed software development, agricultural technology, financial technology, and other emerging industries.
Over 600 entrepreneurs, business leaders, and government representatives from 33 countries participated in the 9th edition of Outsource2LAC, a significant event in the knowledge-based export services sector hosted by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
This is the first time this event was held in the Caribbean, with 20 trade and investment promotion agencies from the region taking part and potential clients from Asia, Europe, the United States, and Canada.
IDB President Ilan Goldfajn underlined the importance of regional integration and digital transformation for sustainable growth in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Fabrizio Opertti, manager of the IDB’s integration and trade sector, emphasized the potential of service exports to foster productivity, high-value jobs, and technology transfer, among other benefits.
Panel discussions and special presentations focused on digital transformation, business process outsourcing, artificial intelligence, video games, Fintech, e-commerce, and AgTech. Also discussed were the financing challenges entrepreneurs face and the regulatory frameworks’ role in fostering human capital development.
