Outsourcing to boost Nigeria’s ICT sector in 2023

ABUJA, NIGERIA — Outsourcing services could help develop Nigeria’s information and communications technology (ICT) industry further this 2023.
According to the local newspaper The Punch, the ICT sector will continue to grow as outsourcing agencies increase their adoption of digital skills and workforce.
The country’s highly educated workforce and lower labor costs would also make it an attractive destination for companies who are looking for outsourcing partners.
ICT training programs and initiatives are also expected to increase in Nigeria to help acquire the necessary skills for the industry.
Governments at different levels are making tremendous efforts in this space. Currently, the National Information Technology Development Agency, through its subsidiary, the National Center for Artificial Intelligence & Robotics, is training one million developers with a focus on Python for machine learning and data science.
Aside from outsourcing, Nigeria’s ICT sector is also expected to be boosted further with the help of cloud computing, e-commerce, mobile broadband, fintech, and artificial intelligence (AI).
The Punch also emphasized that ICT will remain a significant proportion of the economy in the foreseeable future.
