Staffing firm Persol expands with Fujitsu Communication acquisition

TOKYO, JAPAN — Persol Holdings, a Tokyo-based staffing and business process outsourcing (BPO) provider, announced its acquisition of Fujitsu Communication Services.
While terms of the deal remain confidential, it is set for completion on February 3, 2025, involving Persol acquiring a 100% stake from Fujitsu Ltd.
The merger aims to enhance Persol’s capabilities in IT outsourcing, specifically in the maintenance, operation, and development of critical systems like Microsoft365 and customer management systems.
Future plans of Persol and Fujitsu Communication
This acquisition is part of a broader strategic initiative by Persol to enhance its service offerings across various sectors, aiming to create healthier and more productive workplaces through innovative BPO solutions.
Fujitsu, while parting with its shares in Fujitsu Communication, will continue supporting the service operations to ensure a smooth transition and ongoing customer satisfaction.
Track record
Established in December 1994, Yokohama-based Fujitsu Communication Services has built a solid reputation in providing IT outsourcing and contact center services. With a focus on corporate digital transformation, the company supports secure system environments for its customers through various services, including help desk support.
For the fiscal year ending March 31, Fujitsu Communication reported revenues of ¥3.7 trillion ($26 billion). The firm’s expertise in developing skilled IT personnel and its contribution to enhancing customer digital transformations were pivotal reasons for the acquisition. It has over 124,000 employees and operations in more than 100 countries.
Meanwhile, Persol, founded in 1977, specializes in BPO, help desk contact center, sales marketing, business process consulting, HR solutions, healthcare solutions and products. Its net sales for the fiscal year ending March 2024 reached ¥57.6 billion yen ($366 million).
