PEZA-approved investments hit P808Bn
The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) approved a total of PHP807.83 billion (US$15.5 billion) investments since President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration started last 2016.
PEZA Director-General Charito Plaza reported that 88 special economic zones (SEZ) were registered during the Duterte admin.
The agency currently has 415 SEZs and 4,665 locators across the country. Further, jobs created within the economic zones reached more than 1.78 million.
Plaza stated that PEZA will continue to put its “best foot forward” despite the upcoming change in leadership this May.
For the past six years, PEZA has introduced new types of ecozones in the country. This includes agroforestry, aquamarine park, defense-industrial complex, halal hub, island city ecozone, and knowledge, innovation, science, and technology (KIST) parks.
