PEZA cite grounds for hybrid work push

The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) discussed several grounds to encourage the government to allow hybrid work arrangements for Information Technology-Business Process Management (IT-BPM) companies.
PEZA said that hybrid work can be implemented to companies that would comply with a 30% domestic sales allowance on the condition and 70% export requirement.
Charito Plaza, PEZA Director-General, said that “as long as they [companies] meet the 70-percent threshold, they should be allowed to do work-from-home (WFH).”
Property consulting firm Colliers is also supporting PEZA’s cause to build “optimal work regulations in support of both economic and business growth.”
Colliers Senior Manager Daniel Salapong noted that some companies are worried about losing employees because of the Fiscal Incentives Review Board’s (FIRB) on-site work order.
However, at the Laging Handa public briefing, Department of Finance (DOF) Assistant Secretary Paola Alvarez said allowing IT-BPM companies to operate outside economic zones and still enjoy PEZA incentives will be unfair to those not registered with the agency.
Meanwhile, Property consultant Colliers is supporting the continuation of work-from-home setup for “ optimal work regulations in support of both economic and business growth.”
