PEZA employees file raps against OIC

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) officer-in-charge Tereso Panga is facing a usurpation complaint filed by four employees.
The four employees allege that Panga accused and persecuted them of being supporters of former PEZA director general Charito Plaza.
Mid-2022 PEZA was caught in a leadership dispute between Panga and Plaza. While Malacañang appointed Panga as OIC for the government agency, Plaza insisted she remains as the chief of the agency since PEZA is exempted from a Malacañang memorandum declaring vacant several positions in the executive branch.
The complainants claim that their contracts were not renewed while some were assigned to far-flung areas by the PEZA OIC amid the discord with Plaza.
The complaint was filed against Panga at the Office of the Ombudsman in the Visayas for usurping the position, and for violations of the code of conduct and ethical standards for public officials.
