PEZA introduces new visa for foreign investors, workers

The Philippines Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) launched its new work visa for foreigners who will work in Philippine economic zones.
Under the new visa provisions, foreign investors and workers who hold a 47(a)(2) visa are now required to obtain a PEZA visa to continue working in the country.
The 47(a)(2) visa admits non-immigrants, foreign nationals who are temporarily staying in the Philippines for work purposes.
Visa validity will extend to two years with a one-time renewal option for another two years, for a maximum validity of four years. The application process is also shortened from one month to 10 business days.
Foreign investors and workers who hold a valid 47(a)(2) visa and are sponsored by a PEZA-registered company can continue to use their visas until expiration. After, they are obligated to apply for a new PEZA visa to stay eligible to work in the Philippines.
Visa applications can be submitted to the PEZA zone administrator or manager of the ecozone where the enterprise is located.
IT and medical tourism firms in Metro Manila are required to submit their applications to the Manager of the zone office in PEZA’s headquarters.
