PEZA requests BPO workers’ inclusion in COVID-19 vaccine priority list

Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) director-general Charito Plaza has requested to include economic zones workers, especially business process outsourcing (BPO) employees, in the A4 priority category for the COVID-19 vaccination.
In a letter to vaccine czar Carlito Galvez, Jr., Plaza said that PEZA-registered companies, workers in the BPO, and export-oriented sectors should include the fourth priority list COVID-19 vaccine as these sectors remain open even during Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
“PEZA has been hitting two birds in one stone since the beginning of this health crisis. As we give assistance and reprieves to our locator companies who play a big role in keeping our economy afloat, we are protecting the jobs and livelihood of our 1.5 million workers,” she added.
