PEZA to help create 1M outsourcing jobs by 2028
PASAY CITY, PHILIPPINES — The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) will partner with outsourcing industry associations and locators to help create one million jobs by 2028.
During his first State of the PEZA Address (SOPA), PEZA Director General Tereso Panga said that he plans to focus on job creation and job security as one of the social responsibility pillars of the agency.
According to him, creating local jobs brings higher revenues to local government units (LGUs) and skills training for the youth and new graduates.
“PEZA will be committed to actively pursue these as part of its efforts in nation-building,” he added.
The PEZA chief also stated that he plans to leverage leading export sectors such as Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), semiconductor and electronics, and health services.
He stated that the agency would remain aggressive in attracting investors to bolster science-based industries linked to the Global Value Chain and ensure that the Philippines remains at the forefront of global investment destinations.
“PEZA will continue [to] look after the welfare of everyone in the organization, including beefing up the manpower complement and enhancing job productivity and career growth through proper human resources (HR) interventions,” Panga concluded.
