PEZA to identify ecozones “further away from danger zones”

Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Director General Charito Plaza said the agency is looking for potential ecozone sites “which are much further away from danger zones,” like the Taal Volcano in Batangas.
Plaza cited Quezon, Laguna, and Cavite as viable options, as she encouraged existing locators near “danger zones” to look for safer cities.
“Existing zones who are nearer are also asked to prepare for possible transfer. As long as they can already look for other areas, we encourage the developers to immediately look forward, prepare,” Plaza said.
For now, PEZA sites in Batangas are still “safe.” However, they’re preparing if the Taal Volcano situation worsens.
