PH bans South Asian foreigners

The Philippines placed a travel ban on all passengers coming from or who have been from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka as a precautionary measure against the entry of the Indian COVID-19 variant.
All travelers who arrived before May 7 from the four countries must undergo a two-week facility-based quarantine and comply with the government’s existing testing and quarantine protocols.
The travel ban restriction on South Asian countries is due to the World Health Organization’s recommendation where high passenger traffic is from India.
The Philippines has also previously banned travelers from India, which started on April 29 and will last until May 14, unless extended.
