PH employees tops ‘most stressed’ list in SEA

Workers in the Philippines were found to have the highest stress levels in Southeast Asia (SEA) in 2021, said analytics firm Gallup.
In a poll of 1,000 Filipinos aged 15 years and above, 50% answered “yes” when asked whether they experienced stress in their work for most of the day. While it was three points lower than 53 percent in 2020, it was still higher than the global average.
Gallup added that while worry, sadness, and anger levels in workplaces declined in 2021, all these negative emotions — including stress —- remained above pre-pandemic levels.
In the Philippines, 32% said that they are experiencing “a lot of sadness” in their careers, the second-highest in SEA next to Cambodia’s 41%.
When it comes to anger, 24% of Filipinos stated that they are experiencing a lot of this emotion within a day — putting the country in third place across the region. The Philippines, meanwhile, was ranked seventh when it comes to daily worry.
Overall, Gallup found that 44% of employees worldwide experienced “a lot of stress the previous day,” prompting the firm to conclude that “stress among the world’s workers reached an all-time high—again.”
At the same time, 40% of workers worldwide experienced worry, 23% experienced sadness, and 21% experienced anger while working.
